Life is texture. A relation of things.
Texture is only visible when hit by light and its sister, shadow.
On the digital screen, texture is flattened, and begins to reach outside of its restraints into the next photo over. What surfaces is like a puzzle, or hidden message, created between images that would otherwise never meet.
Camera rolls can be amazing sketchbooks, photo albums becoming journal entries — stories of times, things, and places.
What story might this one be?
What I’m making -
This week’s Halloween festivities were marked by an amazing workshop with UAL Master of Fine Art and Master of Art and Science students. Over the course of several hours, we built improvisational film sets, dioramas, and other haphazard creations to display in front of rotating cameras.
This is an in-progress shot of staged window cutouts, and the possible stories that might happen behind them.
